William Leslie Roark, 88, of Jacksonville passed away March 5, 2023. He was born January 22, 1935 in Franklin, Kentucky to the late James and Sudie Mae (Barker) Roark. In addition to his parents, William was welcomed into Heaven by his wife, Carolyn Roark; and his son, Billy Roark.
William grew up on a farm and worked at a dime store when he was a teenager. After graduating high school, he married Carolyn L. Roark and joined the United States Air Force in 1954. William rose in rank to Master Sergeant and retired from the Little Rock Air Force Base after twenty years of honorable service. After retirement, William worked as a manager for JCPenny's for twenty years. William and Carolyn were married for sixty-five years and raised three children: Candy, Ralph, and Lisa. They travelled the world together and enjoyed the family they created.
William loved spending time working in the yard, smoking a good cigar, drinking Orange Crush, and eating Carolyn's cooking. He enjoyed telling stories about life on the farm and his military career. He was always there to lend a helping hand and offer advice. William loved his family and was always concerned about their welfare. He worked all his life to take care of them and will be missed dearly by his surviving family. William was a good man.
