Wilma Jean
Lewis
Nov 12, 1936 — Jan 26, 2026
Jacksonville
Wilma Jean Brockinton Lewis, age 89, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, died Monday, January 26, 2026, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born November 12, 1936, in Faulkner County, Arkansas, to Emmett L. and Dimple Hooks Brockinton.
She was married to Thurman Aaron Lewis on December 27, 1952, and he preceded her in death on August 27, 2005.
A woman of faith, she was a member of the Community of Christ church for nearly 79 years, having been baptized on March 1, 1947. She shared her time and talents at church in many ways, including by baking bread for communion and making puppets for the children's ministry.
While she worked outside of the home at times over the years, including at Hancock Fabrics where she would share her knowledge of sewing, she was primarily a homemaker.
She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she took care of them in any way that she could.
The keeper of traditions and organizer of gatherings, she brought her family together countless times for food, fellowship, and fun.
She made delicious homemade wheat bread, potato rolls, strawberry pie, and vegetable soup, among many other things. Talented at sewing, she made clothes, costumes, dolls, and decorations.
She is survived by her three children, Ronnie Lewis, Joyce Lewis, and Garry (Janice) Lewis, all of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Megan (Kathy) Lewis-Reed of Springdale, Blake (Amanda) Lewis of Des Arc, Robyn (Tim) Marino of Austin, and Kelly Lewis of Cabot; three great-grandchildren, Thurman Lewis, Callen Marino, and Rylee Marino; and three brothers, Charles Brockinton, Donnie Brockinton, and Kyle Brockinton.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Sims, and Carolyn Williford; and a brother, Leroy Brockinton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 N JP Wright Loop Road, Jacksonville, Arkansas, with Ron Lewis officiating. There will be visitation prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. Family and friends are invited to share a memory of Wilma during the service.
Burial of cremated remains at Sumner Cemetery will take place at a later date.
